Jamie & children (of same marriage) my memories of Karl and his dear family go back to 1978 & even then like his father Karl had an engaging personality & infectious smile. Those years playing with Sting were amazing having Karl there - so enthusiastic; such an inspiring and uplifting coach; person towards Martha and the other girls. We cannot remember a game/time when Karl was not smiling; had not made you feel that life was just simply terrific. Please know we have you all in our thoughts. Love, Joe, Sue and Martha Balthasar

Jamie, Emma, and my Quinn, I can’t find the right words to express how sad I am to hear about the loss of such a wonderful husband, dad, and man. I was lucky enough to be blessed with the opportunity to teach Quinn and feel so grateful to have been able to create a relationship with his incredible family as the years have gone on. Quinn, the first time I met your dad, I immediately knew where you got your smile, those sparkly eyes, and that heart of gold. Your dad had a way about him that made anyone he talked to feel important, valued, and worthy of his time. I know that you have, and will continue, to follow in his footsteps. You, honey, are so much like your dad in the way that you can make anyone immediately smile just by showing yours. Your dad is so, SO, proud of you. I will always be a quick phone call away, Quinn. I will be here for you forever and always <3 Jamie and Emma, Please know that I am wrapping you both in a giant hug… similar to the one that Karl gave me on the day that Quinn graduated from 3rd grade. I’ll never forget that squeeze! He was a wonderful man and someone who I will never forget. My heart is with you always. Love, Anna

Karl was my neighborhood crony and classmate. Always kind, with an infectious smile, and a genuine warmth. His athleticism, wit, and congeniality were paramount. Gone too soon. My condolences to the family. I trust the memories will serve as your strength. Rest in peace, friend.

Jamie and Family, I have spent days looking for the right words and I have not been able to find the words to say about how sorry I was to hear of your loss. It seems like yesterday back in the mid-90's and all of us working together and when you first met, started dating and then engaged to Karl. Then years later you become friends with my sister and brother in law, so I was always able to be able to keep up with how you all were doing and your beautiful family. My heart has been very sad, but I know you are comforted by our Lord and God Jesus Christ. Please know you have been in my prayers continually and will always remain so.
