Phyllis will be missed for her tremendous strength of character and dignity. She had a great sense of humor and was a devoted mother and grandmother and great-grandmother. She was quite free with her advice about life but did't take offense if you were not inclined to heed it. She seemed to have a serenity that was remarkable given she was the mother of nine children. I'm so glad I was able to see her one last time in October and had a really good talk about her memories of so many family members, living and departed. May she rest in peace.

To my Hanlon cousins: I’m sorry I can’t be with you to mourn your mom’s death and celebrate her remarkable life. She and my mom were so different, but they shared the Kraynik toughness. In your mom, it took the form of a quiet, gracious resolve and tenacity that I admired very much. I know the years you shared with her were a blessing, and I trust your memories will be too. Much Love, Kate Joyce
